Bespoked Bristol The UK Handmade Bike Show

Phil and Tessa Taylor who helped set up the Brighton Art Fair are staging their second Bespoked Handmade Bike Show in Bristol on the 23rd - 25th March at Brunel's  Old Station at Temple Meads Bristol.

The show has expanded and changed venue following last year's success. However it's still the show which focuses on individual frame builders and small bespoke bike firms.

These frame builders are possibly slightly obsessed but the results are worth seeing - from the finely worked 'lugs' of Demon Frameworks to the bamboo bike of Boocycles

Flat Frame Systems will be showing their laminated wooden bicycle made with mininal energy inputs whilst Donhou will be showing their finely detailed bespoke 'dream' bicycles.

In all there are about 90 makers exhibiting at the show from as far afield as Portland Oregon, and Tuscany Italy and there's a pop up cafe run by 'Look mum no hands'.

If you can't make the show Phil's been touring the country chatting to frame builders about their 'lugs' in Meet the Maker utube interviews.

Friday 23rd March             - 5.00 – 8pm
Saturday 24th March         - 9.30 – 6.00pm

Brighton Art Fair - MADE12 - Poster Design

We've been planning hard to get prepared for this years Brighton Art Fair and MADE12

Sarah Young has again designed the posters featuring the popular character "Mme L'Art" - the Art Fair features Mme L'Art leaving the Art Fair with her purchases in a Tricycle (ice-cream) Cart whilst the West Pier Starlings murmurate in the background.

This year's MADE poster features the slogan "Pick of the Crop" and an allotment/village show theme, - to show that the Makers at MADE are carefully selected to be the best of the best.

(the application deadline for both shows is the end of March with selection taking place during April)

MADE- London - feedback and news

Thank you to everyone who filled out our questionnaire about MADE-London - the results were mostly positive - 98% of our respondents said that they would either definitely apply to take part (60%) or would perhaps apply (38%) the only issue is that makers wanted to pay about half the price of the (subsidised) ORIGIN fair!

We think we can make a new show work by stripping the fair to it's essentials - maintaining the quality of the exhibitors and targeting the marketing spend strictly.

Venues are a problem, either too small, too expensive or in the wrong area. We think we have found a really exciting venue which has never been used before (in fact is not yet available as a venue) but it is a very interesting space in central London with incredibly good connections to the whole of London and beyond by Train and Tube. There are many negotiations and confirmations to go through before we know whether we can confirm this venue so we'll be crossing our fingers for the next few weeks until we hear.

At the moment we're not sure if we will be able to secure a good space but are trying. If we can make it work and finalise a great venue MADE - London is likely to be in mid to late October
